Practical Methods for Detecting Illegal Miners Extracting Crypto-currencies in Distribution Networks Based on Harmonic Indices

چکیده :

In this study, we evaluate the impact of using crypto-currency miners on distribution networks and detect misuse of miners by consumers in the distribution network. Regardless of their legal or illegal utilization for crypto-currency mining, the impact of miners' performance on the components of distribution networks is undeniable due to their internal structure and behavioral mechanism. Today, miners are used in different types, powers, and quantities to mine crypto-currencies. Illegal mining farms lead to irreparable damage to distribution networks. Therefore, identifying them in distribution networks is critical for control and preventive operations. In this regard, one of the challenges related to the monitoring of distribution networks is the use of miners by customers to mine the cryptocurrency. Considering the harmonic behavior of miners and without performing complex mathematical calculations, this study investigated events whose occurrence in distribution networks indicates the existence of illegal miners in distribution network feeders
