Sustainable Multi-Product Supply Chain Network Design: Integrating Backup Suppliers for Disruption Mitigation in the Dairy Sector

چکیده :
Perishable food supply chains must balance economic, environmental, and social objectives while maintaining resilience to supplier disruptions. This paper presents a multi objective MILP model for sustainable design of a multi product dairy supply chain that proactively embeds backup suppliers at the design stage. The four echelon network primary and backup suppliers, processing plants, distribution centers, and retailers is optimized for total cost, CO₂ emissions, and social impact using a Chebyshev goal programming approach. Computational results demonstrate that integrating backup suppliers reduces total cost by 41.7% and carbon emissions by 85.3% without compromising social performance. By focusing on deterministic, design level redundancy rather than scenario based simulations, the model provides actionable insights for planning resilient and sustainable perishable goods supply networks.
