The Contamination-Control Routing Problem: A State-Dependent Routing Framework with Endogenous Risk and Decontamination Decisions

چکیده :
In contamination-sensitive services, a vehicle may acquire contamination at one location and transfer it to subsequent destinations. This paper introduces the Contamination-Control Routing Problem (CCRP), a state-dependent routing framework with endogenous vehicle contamination, destination susceptibility, selective decontamination, and customer-specific contamination thresholds. A mixed-integer linear model and a CCRP-specific adaptive large neighborhood search are developed. A veterinary-biosecurity case study with 60 poultry farms, four teams over three days, and three decontamination facilities illustrates the framework. The full CCRP combines sequencing and selective decontamination to eliminate threshold violations while exposing explicit trade-offs among travel, risk aversion, contamination pickup, and decontamination effectiveness. The framework is applicable to biosecurity, healthcare, laboratories, food systems, and outbreak response.
