چکیده :
In modern omnichannel retailing, correcting localized inventory imbalances through physical lateral transshipment imposes substantial transportation costs, fulfillment delays, and handling overhead. This paper proposes a data-driven framework that uses elasticity-aware dynamic markdown pricing to stimulate localized demand at overstocked store nodes, realizing a virtual transshipment mechanism across a retail network with no physical relocation of inventory. The problem is formulated as a mixed-integer linear program that jointly optimizes discrete markdown tiers across all store-nodes carrying a given product over a finite planning horizon, solved to certified global optimality. A network-level coupling constraint on the deepest markdown tier forces genuinely coordinated, multi-node pricing decisions, so the model must determine which node most warrants aggressive liquidation rather than optimizing each location independently. The framework is validated on a large-scale retail dataset spanning several thousand products, several hundred of which span multiple physical stores and were jointly solved. Results show the proposed model matches or modestly exceeds a traditional fixed-price policy under identical holding-cost accounting: total profit improves by an average of $103 per product-network, reaching gains of up to 37.3% for the most imbalanced networks, concentrated where cross-store imbalance and holding-cost intensity are highest. Diagnostic analysis further confirms that sibling stores of the same product receive asymmetric, coordinated discount depths, direct evidence that the pricing mechanism reallocates demand across the network much like physical transshipment.
