The Interaction of Employee Engagement and Customer Satisfaction: The Key to Sustainable Profitability in Manufacturing and Service Industries?

چکیده :
This study simultaneously examines the interactive effect of two organizational intangible resources, employee engagement and customer satisfaction, on firm profitability using panel data from 2628 publicly-traded US firms from 2017 to 2022. The research method is the Generalized Method of Moments. Results show that in service organizations, the interactive effect of employee engagement and customer satisfaction on profitability is not significant. Whereas, in manufacturing organizations, it is positive and significant. Therefore, the industry in which the organization operates is a moderator of this interactive effect of customer satisfaction and employee engagement on firm profitability.
